Lyrics; Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer
Once upon a time, Not so long ago.
Tommy used to work on the docks, Unions been on strike,
He's down on his luck, it's tough, so tough,
Gina works the diner all day, Working for her man, She brings home her pay
For love, For love.
She says we've got to hold on to what we got, cause it doesn't make a difference
If we make it or not, we've got each other and that's a lot,
For love, well give it a shot.
Wooah, we're half way there, Livin' on a prayer,
Take my hand, we'll make it I swear, Livin' on a prayer.
Tommy's got his six string in hock, Now he's holding in what he used,
To make it talk, so tough, it's tough,
Gina dreams of running away, When she cries in the night,
Tommy whispers baby it's okay, someday.
We've got to hold on to what we got, cause it doesn't make a difference
If we make it or not, we've got each other and that's a lot,
For love, well give it a shot.
Wooah, we're half way there, Livin' on a prayer,
Take my hand, we'll make it I swear, Livin' on a prayer.
We've got to hold on ready or not, You live for the fight when it's all that you've got.
Wooah, we're half way there, Livin' on a prayer,
Take my hand, we'll make it I swear, Livin' on a prayer.

Lyrics; Iron Maiden - The Trooper
You'll take my life but i'll take yours too, You'll fire your musket but o'll run you through,
So when your waiting for the next attack, You'd better stand there's no turning back,
The bugle sounds the charge begins, But on this battle field no one wins,
The smell of acrid smoke and horses breath as I plunge on into certain death,
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh,
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh.
The horse he sweats with fear we break to run, The mighty roar of the russian guns,
And as we race towards the human wall, The scream of pain as my comrades fall.
We hurdles bodies that lay on the ground, And the russians fire another round,
We get so near yet so far away, We wont live to fight another day,
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh,
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh.
We get so close near enough to fight, When a russian gets me in his sights,
H pulls the trigger and I feel the blow, A burst of rounds takes my horse below,
And as I lay there gazing at the sky, My body's numb and my throat is dry,
And as I lay forgotten and alone, Without a tear I draw my parting groan,
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh,
Lyrics; Avenged Sevenfold - So Far Away
Never feared for anything, Never shame but never free,
A light that healed a broken heart with all that it could.
Lived a life so endlessly, Saw beyond what others see,
I tried to heal your broken heart with all that I could.
Will you stay, Will you stay away forever.
How do I live without the ones I love, Time still turns the pages of the book it's burned,
Place and time always on my mind, I have so much to say but you're so far away.
Plans of what our futures hold, Foolish lies of growin' old,
It seems were so invincible, the truth is so cold.
A final song, a last request, A perfect chapter laid to rest,
Now and then I try to find a place in my mind.
Where you can say, You can stay awake forever.
How do I live without the ones I love, Time still turns the pages of the book it's burned,
Place and time always on my mind, I have so much to say but you're so far away.
Sleep tight, I'm not afraid, The ones that we love are here with me,
Lay away a place for me, Cause' as soon as i'm done i'll be on my way,
To live on eternally.
How do I live without the ones I love, Time still turns the pages of the book it's burned,
Place and time always on my mind, And the light you left remains but it's so hard to stay,
When I had so much to say and you're so far away.
I love you, you were ready,
The pain is strong and urges rise, But i'll see you,
When it lets me, your pain is gone, your hands untied.
So far away, I need you to know,
So far away, And I need you to, Need you to know.
Initial Ideas.
Front Cover; My front cover is going to have an image on it which will just take up half of the page. I have decided to do this so that I have somewhere to put all my subheadings etc. I will have the masthead in a bold font which stands out and the name of my magazine is 'High Voltage'. The masthead will be in two different colours. The first part 'High' will be in a bold white font so it stands out against my background. The second part of the masthead 'Voltage' will be in an orange font. This is also so it stands out against my background and so it symbolises lightning. The selling line will be at the bottom of the page and that will also be in a bold orange font. The selling line will say 'Live Life With Volume'. I have chosen to have that specific selling line because you need to listen to Rock/Metal music on loud because it isn't the same if you don't. On my front cover there will be a date and price underneath my masthead. The background of my front cover will be a graffiti wall which shows rebellious behaviour.

Target Audience and Price.
The target audience for my music magazine will be people who love rock/metal or screamo music. The age range for this will be from 14+. I have chosen this specific age range because you start to have more money when you turn into a teenager and you will need money to buy this magazine. Another reason why I have put the age 14+ is that some of rock/metal songs have swearing in them so I don't think it would be suitable to have someone under the age of 14 listening to them.
The magazine will be released on a weekly basis. This is so that the people that are buying the magazine will be able to get it every week so that they can see new tours which have been released and they can see different information on there favourite bands/singers.
The price of this magazine will be £1.40. This is so that teenagers will be able to afford it and they will be able to get it whenever they want. I have also done it at this price because it isn't too expensive. The price I have out the magazine at is also a good price because when there is offers on it will encourage people to buy it. For example, more people buy Kerrang! when there is either an offer with posters or when you get a free CD within that particular issue.
Music Genre.
The music genre I am focusing my magazine on is rock and metal. This is because this is the music I listen to and I will be able to relate to this music. I am also focusing my magazine on rock because I buy Kerrang! alot and I know what needs to be included in an issue of that magazine. I have also chosen this genre because all of my favourite bands will fall in to this genre which means I can write about them when doing my LLIAR analysis and I will enjoy that more than writing about something I do not have an inteest in. Another reason why I have chosen this genre is because I goto gig's at Ringside and Lamp. Going to these gig's will help me do my music magazine because I can take pictures of them which may be used as the front cover or on the double page spread.
Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare
The link above is of an American Heavy Metal band that I listen to a lot. The reason I have put this specific youtube link in is because it is a song that is well known by everyone that listens to this genre of music. Avenged Sevenfold came together in 1999 and have released five studio albums, one live album/compilation/DVD, and eighteen singles and sold more than four million albums worldwide. The band Avenged Sevenfold are one of the most famous heavy metal bands.
Iron Maiden - The Trooper
The link above is of one of the best heavy metal bands ever. The British band Iron Maiden came together in 1975 and are still touring 36years later which shows how good they actually are. Iron Maiden are considered as the best heavy metal bands in history. They have released a total of thirty-six albums: fifteen studio albums; eleven live albums; four EPs; and six compilations. They have also sold over 85million records worldwide and have played over 2000 live shows all over the world. The reason I have chosen an Iron Maiden link is because they are clearly one of the well known heavy metal bands which are still around. Iron Maiden are arguably the best heavy metal band ever.
Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer
The link above is from the best rock band known, Bon Jovi. Bon Jovi came together in 1983. In their career they have released eleven studio albums, three compilation albums and one live album, and have sold 130 million records worldwide. They have performed more than 2,600 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 34 million fans. With Bon Jovi succeding what they have in their career just shows how many people love the band. This is why they are the best Rock band ever!

LLIAR Analysis - 2nd Front Cover
Language- The masthead on this music magazine is in a large black font which stands out against the background which is a pale colour. The masthead is a dominant icon and it shows the title of the magazine very easily. The skyline of the magazine has a red background with the writing in a bold font. The image takes up the majority of the front cover and represents what the main article in the magazine is about. The singers of the bands have a British flag wrapped around them and the writing also represents the british image because it is in the colours of the british flag. The way the image is set out is good because they artists go in order as the writing says who the singers are. LIIAR Analysis - Front Cover
Language- The masthead on this specific music magazine is in a large white font and it stands out against the main image/background. The kicker on this magazine stands out because it has a yellow background with red and black writing. The writing on the kicker stands out because of the colour of the background of the kicker. Underneath the masthead there is a little image which represents what one of the articles will be about in this issue of the magazine. The image that is underneath the masthead also has a yellow background (same as the kicker) and the writing on it stands out which will attract readers. The main cover line on this specific magazine front cover stands out because it is in a large font which stands out against the background and the image. Above the main cover line is a quote from the article which will potentially attract readers that are interested in the band. The quote has a black background but the writing is in a yellow colour which has also been used throughout the front page and could potentially be part of the colour scheme. The main cover line has two different colours. The first part ('Bring Me The Horizon') is in white with a red outline which stands out against the background and the second part ('Oli Sykes') is in the same yellow which is used on the magazine. Both parts of the cover line are in a big bold font which will stand out and will attract the readers to this magazine. Next to the main cover line is another splash which says 'most revealing interview ever'. The second splash will also attract readers, especially if they like this band because they will want to know more about the lead singer, Oli Sykes. The colour scheme throughout the front cover is mainly yellow, white and red. These colours will be used because the white and yellow will stand out against the image/background and they will use the red because it is the colour for rock and Kerrang! use it in the majority of their magazines. The main image which is used on this magazine shows that the singer is in a rock/metal band. This is shown by the long hair which could be stereotyped as an emo and all of the tattoo's. The tattoo's represent rebellious behaviour which rock is all about.
Ideology- The theme of this magazine is to provide the people who read this magazine with all the gossip/information that is on the rock industry. The people that read this magazine will be expecting to find information/articles on their favourite artists or bands. The magazine will also provide information of all the concerts that are happening in the UK because on the front cover it states that its 'The UKs biggest gig guide'. The way that the magazine front cover shows that it is to provide the readers with information is the different headings on the front. The magazine has good offers and exclusive stories on some of the biggest stars in the rock industry. There is several images which also show that this magazine is to provide the readers with information. The main images show bands that are featured in this magazine.
Institution- With this magazine been available all over they will distribute it in supermarkets or any shop that sell magazines. Music Magazine Examples.
I have done some research on different types of music magazines for different genres of music. The majority of music magazines do not look the same and they are all set out differently. The three Kerrang! covers I have found on the internet all cover the Rock, Metal and Heavy Metal genre of the music industry. Two of the magazine covers (My Chemical Romance and 30 Seconds To Mars) are rock music. However the 3rd Kerrang! cover (Bring Me The Horizon) is classed as metalcore music. These front covers represent the rock image becauase of the colour scheme throughout the magazine front covers. This is because the typical rock colours are red and black. This is shown on the My Chemical Romance Kerrang! cover. On the other two magazine covers there is both red writing which shows that Kerrang! are consistant with there colour schemes and the red is throughout all three of these magazine covers. This shows that the magazine is a rock magazine. The image is an important perspective of this magazine especially to show that it is a rock magazine. This is because they are well known rock/metal bands. One of the magazine front covers (Bring Me The Horizon) represents a rock/metal image because of the way they are dressed and the way the band represent themselves. This is by them having the long styled hair which can be stereotyped as an "emo". Another way that the band Bring Me The Horizon represent that they are a metal band is by them having tattoo's which are on show. The lead singer of Bring Me The Horizon has alot of tattoos and some of them always have to be on show because he has got no way of hiding them. Tattoo's are usualyl linked to the rock n roll lifestyle which can be seen as rebelious. The My Chemical Romance front cover represents rock by the lead singer (Gerard Way) having bright red hair. This represents the rock image because you wouldnt see pop singers such as Justin Bieber having bright red hair. The My Chemical Romance cover also represents a rock image because there is a picture of Eddie (Iron Maidens iconic image) in the bottom corner. This represents that this is a rock magazine because Iron Maiden are a well known rock band which are known all over the world. The splash on the My Chemical Romance magazine also shows that it is a rock magazine because it says '7 day rock guide'. This shows that it is a rock magazine because it is promoting rock. On the last rock magazine the colour scheme still uses red which is used on the majority of Kerrang! front covers and it also shows that this is a rock magazine. The image on the 30 Seconds To Mars front cover isnt as bright as the other front covers and the image of Ville Valo in the corner has a red shadow around it which also represents the colour of rock. Also, above the masthead it shows what other bands are included in that specific issue of the magazine. It says that 'Aerosmith' are in this issue of the magazine. This is another way that shows that Kerrang! is a rock magazine because Aerosmith are another well known rock band from the 80's.
The two magazine front covers (Cheryl Cole and Lady Gaga) from the music magazine Q have two of the best pop singers. This magazine is the UK's biggest music magazine and it is represented by having Lady Gaga on the front cover. This is because Lady Gaga is a very well known singer, she is known all over the world. The magazine front cover with Cheryl Cole say's that 'Cheryl Cole Rocks'. This suggests that Cheryl Cole is a rock singer because the word 'Rock' is in red which is used throughout the 'Kerrang!' magazine but Cheryl Cole is a pop/R&B singer. The image on the magazine with Cheryl Cole on the front also suggests that she is a rock singer because of the way the photographer has photographed her. The background on the first magazine cover has a dark background which the writing and image stands out against. The other magazine front cover with Lady Gaga on the front is completely different to the previous one which had Cheryl Cole on the front. The background on the magazine which features Lady Gaga is a light grey background which has white, red and black writing on it which stands out against the background. The main cover line is in a bright white colour which is also in a big font which stands out against the background and the image. The image is large which also stands out against the background because Lady Gaga is wearing black trousers and black gloves. The subheading are in a medium sized font which stands out against the light background.
The two magazine covers (Florence and the Machines and Pink) are completely different. The front covers are both from different magazines but they both have two very well known singers on the front of them. Pink is known as a pop/rock singer as Florence and the Machines are known as a Indie/Rock band. These two magazine front covers specialise in modern rock. These two singers are well known as modern rock singers. On the first magazine cover (Florence and the Machine) doesnt have a background because the image takes up the whole of the front cover. The writing which is all in a white font which stands out against the main image. The main headline (Florence) which is in a large black font stands out against the image because it is a light coloured image. However, the 'Rolling Stones' magazine is a completely different design the background is a dark colour. This makes the writing stand out against the background. The masthead is in a bright red colour which half of it is covered because of the image. The main subheading is in a grey colour with a white outline which stands out against the background and is down the side of the image. The model (P!nk) is wearing a black top which blends in with the background but she is wearing a white scarf around her neck which is white and that stands out against the background.

Spider Diagram.
This spider diagram shows the different sub-genres within the music industry. There is many more genre's of music but these are the most listened genres. The Kerrang! magazine that I wrote about is a music magazine that specialises in one of the most popular music genres within the industry. This is Rock and Heavy Metal.
Kerrang! Front Cover.
Kerrang! Front Cover;
Here is an example of a music magazine front cover from the magazine "Kerrang!". The front cover doesn't show what music genre the magazine specialises in but for people that know these bands they will know that the magazine specialises in rock, metal, screamo and many more. The main image doesn't represent what music genre it writes about. But the lead singer of the band "Bring Me The Horizon" has a few tattoo's visible and this suggests that his band is a rock, metal or screamo band. This is because you wouldn't expect to see someone that sings R&B to be covered in tattoos. The three images at the bottom also represent that this may be a rock magazine because there is three well known rock bands. For example, Metallica (far right) are one of the worlds best rock bands and the majority of people know who Metallica are. It is also represented by the middle photograph because the lead singer of Avenged Sevenfold also has alot of tattoo's which you wouldn't always find. There is a clear colour scheme throughout this front cover which is red and white. This is because the masthead and the main article subheading are in a bright white font which stands out against the background. The other subheading are either in red or have a red background with white writing. With the colour scheme been the same on the front cover this shows consistancy.
The Brief - Analysis
The Brief - Analysis.
Language- The language for my Music Magazine is going to include all of the magazine conventions. For example, my front cover will include a masthead, subtitles, headlines etc. The front cover needs a colour scheme which will also be continued throughout the rest of my pages. My masthead on my front cover will be in a big bright font which will also attract the reader to buying the music magazine. The camera angles are very important for my magazine as one of the images will be used for the front cover which initially attracts the readers so it needs to be a good image.
Institution-
Ideology-
Audience- The audience for my music magazine will be music lovers. The genre of my magazine will be decided later on in the planning and the front cover will appeal to those music lovers which listen to that specific genre of music.

Contents Page- Updated.
I added a background on to the contents page. This is so it adds more colour to it and stands out for the reader. The blue colour which I have used is the colour that I have used for some of the sub-headings on the front cover.
Analysis.
Language; Throughout my magazine I have used a lot of different magazine concepts. On my front cover I have included a masthead, date, issue number, subtitles, images, teaser and a barcode. My masthead is right at the top of the page and the date and issue number are underneath it in the same colour. The masthead is in a large font and a bright colour which stands out against the background. I have used a teaser on my front cover so it makes the students want to buy the college magazine. For my main image I have used a medium close up but the model is laid on her stomach. I decided to use the specific image because it is a medium close up but on a different angle. Also, because the model is reading her Wyke handbook. With the model looking through her Wyke College handbook it gives a good representation to the college. My subtitles are all in different colours but each one stands out against the background because they are in a bright colour. The reason I chose the bright colours is so that it would catch the reader’s attention and the bright colours may draw the students attention to the magazine.
Ideology; The theme of my college magazine is encouraging students that they can have a good social life and a good time whilst there at college. This is shown by the model because she is smiling which implies that she is having a good time. There is also several photo’s on my contents page that represents having a good time at college. I have not used a specific colour scheme on my magazine. This is because with the image been taking on grass there is a lot of green and the majority of colours will not stand out against the background. Instead of having a specific colour scheme I used various different colours which will stand out against the background and attract students.
Institution; With my magazine been about Wyke College they will distribute my magazine. This is because my magazine is representing the college and the magazine will be giving students a guide about what is going on around the college at the specific time when it is released.
Audience; The audience for my magazine will be the students that study at Wyke College this is because the magazine will appeal to them. With me using bright colours on the front cover it will catch students eye’s and they will want to get the magazine so they can read through it and see what is going on throughout the college that month.
Representations; The representation of my magazine is to enjoy college. This is shown by my model smiling whilst reading through her Wyke College. This represents that if you are a student you can still have a laugh and see your friends and get an education.
Contents Page.
This is a draft of what I would want my contents page to look like. The photo's represent what the articles in the magazine are. The contents page has a medium sized font with brightly coloured photographs which makes them stand out and catch the readers eye.

Final Front Cover Design.
This is my final design for my college magazine. I have changed the size of the font and made it bolder and brighter. I have also used colours throughout the front page that stand out against the background and have done them in a big font. I have also chosen these specific colours because they will catch the readers eye. The font I have used stands out against the background, this is because it is easy to read. I have positioned the font around the model so it clearly shows that she is looking through her Wyke handbook.
Magazine Front Cover.
I have started to do my front cover for my college magazine. There is a couple of things that I have changed from what my initial ideas was. I have changed the colour of the font because the previous colour I chose didn't stand out against the backgroud so I changed it to a more suitable colour. I have added a barcode in the bottom left hand corner and put the price underneath it. I have also added my masthead to my front cover, I have done it in a font that stands out against the background and the colour also stands out. Underneath the masthead there is the date and the issue number. These are also in the purple which is throughout my front cover, this shows consistancy throughout the magazine.

LIIAR Analysis- Contents Page.
LIIAR Anaylsis- Contents Page;
Language- The language used on the contents page is very easy to read because it is a clear font that stands out against the plain background. The language is a decent font and is a bold plain colour which also means it stands out against the background. The 'contents' at the top of the page stands out because it is a white font which stands out against the background and is also a unusual font which will catch the readers eyes.
Institution- The theme throughout the contents page is the same. The background is in a green colour and the writing is in black and white. This is a good colour scheme because it is the same throughout the contents page.
Ideology- By looking at the contents page it looks like the theme is on colleges. This is because it advertises different articles which will help the students understand what is going on around the college and gives them the opportunity to see what is going on.
Audience- The audience is going to be the students that are going to read this magazine. The audience will use this magazine for information and to find out what is going on around the college. The students will also use this to find out what competitons and parties are going on and also use this for help. The target audience for the college magazine will be 16-19 years olds because you start college when your sixteen and stay for either 2 or 3 years.
Representation- This contents page represents the College the magazine is promoting by having different articles about the college. The contents page also shows that it is a college magazine because there is an article called 'Latest College News'. With the images on the contents page they represent what the article will be about. This is because they have the page number included and it could possibly be the main image on the article.

Analysing Photos.
I took this photo so I could promote where to smoke on the college grounds. I would use this photo to show that you are not allowed to smoke on the college grounds.
I also got this photo to promote where you can smoke around the college.
This photograph shows that when you are at college and are doing work you can still be with your friends and have a laugh. This is shown by one of the students laughing whilst looking at the book.
This is a good photograph which shows that the student is engaged in her studies. This is shown by her looking through her planner whilst still having a smile on her face.
This photograph shows that if you have a study period you can share it with your friend and you can do the work together.
This photograph shows that if you have a study period you can share it with your friend and you can do the work together.
This photograph shows that if you have a study period you can share it with your friends and you can all help each other with there work and still have a good time. With the students look happy it suggests that they enjoy college.
This photograph shows that you can be with your friends whenever you want.
This picture advertises a friendly representation of the college and it also shows one of the college buildings in the background.
The two images above are what im thinking of using for my main image. This is because these images show a student having a good time whilst having work with her (folder).
